I am overcome with emotion today. God is everywhere! God is hugging me so tightly, and reminding me that he knows the desires of my heart.
Today I spent some quiet time listening to worship music to spend some time with the Lord. I am really loving the band “Jesus Culture” right now. Their music is very powerful, and I feel the richness of their songs connect directly with God.
Growing up, I attended a very traditional church. We sang hymns from a hymnal to the sound of a piano or organ. I used to think that “God music” sung to an uptempo was blasphemy, not necessarily that I was taught that, I just thought it. I say this to emphasize how passionate I am about my love for God music, and “Jesus Culture” is doing it for me right now!
(I don’t think there’s a right or wrong way to sing praise to God, so please do not take offense if we have different preferences in worship music.)
After praying and singing praises to God today, I got back to some things I was previously working on. As soon as I started, I got an e-mail that had a scripture in it. What would be the scripture, but one of my favorites: Psalm 62:2, a scripture so close to my heart that I have it tattooed on my inner wrists.
“He alone is my rock and my salvation, my fortress where I will never be shaken.” (New Living Translation)
I also enjoy this version:
“Truly he is my rock and my salvation; he is my fortress, I will not be shaken.” (New International Version)
Not only is this one of my favorite scriptures, but when I woke up this morning, I updated my Facebook status to this:
“There’s nothing that will shake me today; God is on my side!”
I definitely had Psalm 62:2 in mind when I woke up, and shortly after, God responded with that same scripture.
He is alive, and he loves!
